Faces of Battle

faces of battle 01

This exhibition at the National Army Museum combines the archive records from the Queen's Hospital with the textile sculptures created in response to the archive by artist Paddy Hartley, who has worked with the Archives for four years. The exhibition is both graphic and challenging, reminding us that we must not forget those who did not die in the war but survived, disfigured and often mentally as well as physcially scarred by war. It shows the reality of injury, but also shows the remarkable results achieved by the surgeons of Sidcup together with their teams of anaesthetists, artists, technicians and sculptors.

The exhibition runs from November 2007 to May 2008. Admission is free. Feedback is welcome. For a gallery of exhibition images click here.
